Vegetables and Fruits are the base of a healthy diet—they are small in calories and nutrient dense, which means they are full with minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and fiber.

Vegetables and Fruits should be piece of every meal and your primary choice for a snack—aim for a least of five portions each day. The antioxidants and further nutrients in fruits and vegetables help to guard against certain types of cancer and other diseases.

The brighter, deeper colored Vegetables and Fruits enclose higher concentrations of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants—and dissimilar colors provide different benefits. Some great choices are:

  • Sweet vegetables: Naturally sweet vegetables include healthy charm to your meals and lessen your cravings for other sweets. Some examples of sweet vegetables are carrots, beets, corn, winter squash, sweet potatoes or yams, and onions.
  • Greens: Greens are full with iron, potassium, zinc, calcium, magnesium, vitamins A, C, E and K, and they aid strengthen the blood and respiratory systems. Be adventurous with your greens and stem out beyond bright and dark green lettuce—kale, broccoli, mustard greens, Chinese cabbage are just some of the options.

  • Fruit: An extensive variety of fruit is also very important to a healthy diet. Fruit provides fiber, antioxidants and vitamins. Apples provide fiber, oranges and mangos offer vitamin C, and Berries are cancer-fighting, and so on.
